OGGO/Case studies/Schweizerhof Zermatt

A hundred and twenty-three workstations, and nobody on site.

The Schweizerhof Zermatt never closes. Reception, reservations, catering and management all work on the same fleet, at hours that never quite overlap. OGGO looks after its 123 iPads from Geneva, without ever going up to Zermatt.

Twenty minutes is enough to tell what is holding and what is about to give.

The case
01

What wasn't working

A hotel does not close: nobody can shut a machine down at seven in the evening for an update. And the fleet is far away — there is no possible daily visit, no technician driving up for one machine.

Everything that can be done remotely has to be done remotely, or it does not get done. That is the single constraint in this case, and it decides everything else.

02

What we put in place

123 iPads are enrolled in a remote management console. Each one is configured, updated and fixed without anyone travelling. Updates go out by group and by time slot, so that reception and catering are never unavailable at the same moment.

A new iPad arrives from its supplier, is switched on by the person who will be using it, and sets itself up — accounts, software, security settings.

03

What holds today

123 iPads looked after from Geneva, and there is no technician on site.

This case does not demonstrate proximity: it demonstrates the opposite. A fleet of this size can be looked after remotely, provided the management is set up before anyone needs it.

A school, a studio, an office — the method doesn't change.

We look at the setup before proposing anything at all. That holds for a classroom just as much as for a design server.
